This project transformed failing tennis courts undermined by stormwater runoff and settling from unretained earth, into a stable, accessible and attractive facility. Located within the Wachusett Reservoir watershed, the runoff from the slope above the courts and rain landing on the courts is captured, treated and infiltrated into the ground to meet water quality standards.

A tiered retaining wall was used to reduce the overall height of the wall and provide a mezzanine level for baseball spectators at the field below. From the courts themselves, distant views to the reservoir and wooded countryside are a highlight of the beautiful park setting.

The American Sports Builders Association recognizes projects nationwide that promote excellence in sports facility construction.
